Guidance and Parent Conferences
We always encourage parents and students to first communicate directly with teachers when they have a concern. This can head off many problems. Email is an excellent option for reaching teachers. All PHS teachers have email that they check daily. A teacher's email address is typically their first initial and last name followed by @putnamschools.org. A list of teacher's names is posted on the Faculty/Staff web page. Otherwise you should contact your child's guidance counselor. Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled through the Guidance office Tue., Wed. & Thurs. between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Financial Aid
In order to obtain financial aid, your parents MUST fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) based on their income tax return information. We are no longer receiving this in paper form because they want you to fill out the form online. If you and your parents do not have access to a computer, you may obtain a paper FAFSA by calling 1-800-433-3243 (1-800-4-FED-AID). You may also access the form now in PDF format by going to www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov. You will NOT qualify for any financial aid [including scholarships offered from the colleges and universities] until this form has been filled out.

Advanced Placement Program
AP is a program of college level courses and exams that gives bright, motivated students the opportunity to get ahead by earning advanced placement and/or college credit while they are still in high school. AP courses are taught by teachers who follow the national curricula established by the College Board.
Florida Virtual School
A variety of courses are available online for our students through The Florida Virtual High School (FLVS). The FLVS online courses can supplement the course offerings at PHS and allow our students to earn extra credits over the summer or in the evening during the school year. If you would like more information, visit The Florida Virtual High School website at http://www.flvs.net/ or send email to info@flvs.net.
Night School
If you have failed a class during any year at PHS you need to see your guidance counselor to get signed up for Night School. Night School begins immediately after school at 2:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
College Placement Test
Sophomores and juniors who have a 3.0 UNWEIGHTED GPA and are trying to qualify for dual enrollment, need to take the CPT (College Placement Test). There is no charge for this test. You must sign up in Guidance to take the exam. You also must fill out a blue Dual Enrollment registration form and return to Guidance before you can take the test.
College Scholarships

Transcripts
If you plan to attend college you must request and pay the $3.00 for a final transcript to be sent to your college of choice. All colleges require that a final transcript be sent. Final transcripts will not be sent out until all final grades are posted which will be toward the middle or end of June. You may pick up the yellow final form from the guidance office. The request must be returned with the fee and college address to Mrs. Heisler in guidance before you graduate.
